RESEARCH
Witmo has ongoing R&D&i projects for high-tech products and solutions for cold logistics, but also in medical, pediatric, and everyday life areas, combining knowledge and advances, ethics, and professionalism.
Our laboratory carries out innovative research in a wide range of areas, seeking to push the limits and enable transformative technologies. In collaboration with academic partners, we explore creative applications in chemistry, materials science, and engineering.
An important focus is the advancement of functional coatings and special inks. Along with the Department of Chemistry at the National Technological University - La Plata Regional Faculty, we investigate thermochromic systems to reversibly change colors in response to temperature changes. This includes developing irreversible processes for permanent color transformations for uses such as manipulation indication. We also explore the controlled release of pigments and the activation of catalysts within coatings.
Furthermore, we collaborate with the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology of the National University of San Martín in the research of nanomaterials. The experiments make use of customized nanoparticles and microencapsulation to generate novel compounds with specialized functionality. This allows for advancements in areas such as functionalized membranes and porous structures for filtration/separation applications.
Beyond material innovations, we drive the capabilities of sensors and devices. The projects explore the addition of detection modalities to microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) such as inertial, pressure, thermal, and gas sensors. The applications range from monitoring infrastructures to wearable devices. We also research energy harvesting devices and radiofrequency identification (RFID) systems to create novel applications for smart and connected technologies.
